~Pastor Robert Desnoyers

We know that when someone visits a new church for the first time, they may have a number of questions.  We want you to feel as comfortable as possible when you visit Highway Tabernacle, so here is a quick look at what you can expect when you come to our church:

A Warm Welcome

At Highway Tabernacle, you will be greeted warmly as soon as you walk through the door.  You will also find several people who will be more than happy to assist you if you are looking for a Sunday School classroom for yourself or your children, a restroom, the main sanctuary, etc

Contemporary Music

The service will include a time of worship music in which a worship leader (accompanied by instruments) will lead the congregation in singing contemporary worship songs. There may also be quiet times of waiting in God's presence, as well as moments where worshippers are invited to spontaneously express love and adoration to God vocally.  There will be time when we praise God with singing, clapping, and lifting our hands.  Some may feel comfortable bowing or kneeling before the Lord. and others may dance before the Lord.  Worship styles will reflect the spectrumof personalities with some being quiet and reserved, while others shout with joy.  No sincere worshipper need feel out of place at Highway Tabernacle.

An Encouraging Message

The messages that you will hear at Highway Tabernacle are meant to help yhou deal with real life issues.  They will always be geared towards practically applying the Bible in our everyday lives.

An Altar Call

During the service, people may be invited to come to the altar.  Usually, this either happens relatively early in the service for those who would like to have the pastor or another prayer partner pray with them about a pressing need in their life, or at the end of the services for those who would like to respond to the message by praying at the altar while still in the presence of God.  At no time, however, will anyone be coerced to come.

Children's Ministry

If you choose to come for Sunday School at 9:30am, you will find that there is a class for every age.  All of our teachers and workers are screened and qualified, as we work hard to ensure that all our students will be well taught, have fun, and be safe.  During the 10:30am service, there is  "Children's Church" for children ages 3-12 which takes place in the fellowship hall.  This will include Bible lessons, videos, puppets, crafts, snacks, music, and games.

Dress

We're more concerned that your spiritual, real life needs are met than what you wear.  If you dress casually, you'll fit right in, as some wear jeans and others may wear suits.  Most dress casually with slacks and a nice shirt.

Offering

At some point during the service, an offering will be taken.  Visitors are not expected to give.  Each offering is an opportunity for people, who call Highway Tabernacle their church home, to worship God in Biblical giving and to share in the work of the ministry.
